The Bishop and his family are grateful for all the support they received in the preparation for and the funeral of uMkhulu Johannes. D. Buthelezi.
We were specially grateful for the presence to the Presiding Bishop Phaswana, General Secretary Mathe, Executive Secretary Khathi, Diocesan staff, all the Deans of ELCSA-SED, all pastors and everyone who took time to come to the funeral of our father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Furthermore the Buthelezi family would like to thank all people who sent messages of condolences, who prayed for the family and showed support in many different ways. The support was overwhelming and came from very different destinations in and outside of South Africa. Special thanks goes out to Empangeni Circuit and its leadership who hosted and prepared the funeral of uMkhulu J.D.Buthelezi.

For those who weren’t able to attend the funeral there are a few impressions below from the funeral which took place in Imbizo Hall in Empangeni on the 19th of July.
Funeral of J.D. Buthelezi is going to take place in a different venue. It is going to be in Imbizo Hall in Empangeni in Biyela Street.
The date and venue of the funeral of Johannes D. Buthelezi has been confirmed. It is going to take place in Matshana Lutheran Church near Empangeni on Saturday the 19th of July at 10am.
Please note that there will be no change on Bishop’s Year Plan, that is the Bishop will continue doing his work as normal. Tomoro on Sat 12th of July the Bishop will be at Pholela Parish at Nkandla unveiling the tombstone of the late Rev Bonginkosi Mkhize; on Sunday the Bishop will be preaching at the Empangeni Circuit Young Adults’ Conference; on this Monday the Bishop will be in Pretoria for VISAS; then from Tuesday till Thursday the Bishop will be at the Diocesan Synod at Umpumulo.
Only from Thursday evening to Friday evening on the 18th of July 2014 will the Bishop’s family be together at Umpumulo Bishop’s Residence. Then the Bishop’s family will move to Empangeni on Saturday morning.
J.D. Buthelezi father of Bishop P.P. Buthelezi died yesterday at the age of 96 in Umphumulo hospital.
The not yet confirmed plan is to hold the funeral service at 10 o’clock on the 19th of July in Matshana congregation, Empangeni Circuit. When confirmed we will post further information.
Our deepest condolences to the Bishop and his family! Let us all keep the Bishop and his family in our prayers.
